Tauranga was built as a wellboat in 2001, and was then the world’s first vessel delivered with sliding bulkheads for the gentle handling of live fish in tanks. In collaboration with Mowi, it was extended and converted in 2008, thus becoming Europe’s first harvest vessel for salmon. Since 2009, the vessel has operated for Mowi, delivering more salmon than any other harvest vessel in the world.
